So, come join us in listening to various important speakers talk about what our area is doing about the unhealthy water situation we’ve had going on here in Northwest Indiana for awhile now!

Our speakers:
Doreen Carrey
Leslie Dorworth
Natalie Johnson
Michael Boos

from their various organizations, will be there to fill us in on the current situation and perhaps what projects we can take part in to help make it better!

Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be provided.

See you later today!

The Arctic – We’re More Than Just Cute Pictures of Polar Bears

In Northwest Indiana, we have our own fair share of industrial environmental justice issues.

We here at the NWI Act for Arctic campaign sympathize with that fact,

and can, as a result, imagine why someone would ask a question similar to,

“Why should I care about what’s happening ALLLL the way in the Arctic?”

With that said, we give you this flyer:

savethearcticflyer

Here are the links provided on this flyer – more easily clickable – along with our other two social media sites we keep up on:

What are some ideas you all can think of to get people interested in the Arctic’s preservation?

Four Hours = Over One Hundred Fifty Purdue Calumet Student Photo Petitions In Favor of an Arctic Sanctuary

We are proud to announce our Act for Arctic Photo Petition / Stuffed Animal Give-Away was an absolute success!!

Check out the photo petitions here: www.facebook.com/NWIActForArctic

With that said, the fight to stop Arctic drilling gained nearly 200 more helping hands in the form of petitions (in only four hours between classes) which will be used as a supplement during meetings between Campaign Leaders and various decision makers in the Northwest Indiana area to better gain their influential power in the global Act for Arctic Campaign – AND AS A RESULT – in the fight for a cleaner future!!

This was truly an inspirational day!!

Sending good thoughts all your way!

Thanks so much for your time.IMG_6274.JPG

Chris Hedges interview at “People’s Climate March”

What are all of your thoughts on this interview?

Green Jihad

Kmele Foster, co-host of Fox Business’ The Independents, met up with Pulitzer-Prize winning author Chris Hedges for a heated debate on the merits of capitalism. Hedges’ views are another example of how the environmentalist movement is not an anti-pollution movement but one that is a hard-Left, authoritarian one dedicated to collectivization of the globe using claims of human harm to nature as the vehicle to achieve that goal.

BRAVO!! This Group Has Been Involved with Protecting the Arctic for Over Two Decades!!

Hello all!

Sorry, it’s been quite a while since we’ve posted.

We’ve been busy-busy with preparations for our “Ice Ride” event scheduled for Sunday, November 2nd!

Anyway – Today we’re celebrating the inspirational involvement of the World Wildlife Foundation!

WWF World Arctic Program

http://wwf.panda.org/what_we_do/where_we_work/arctic/what_we_do/

“The Arctic is estimated to hold the world’s largest remaining untapped gas reserves and some of its largest undeveloped oil reserves. These reserves, if tapped, have implications for the global climate, and for the Arctic environment.”

Did YOU know they’ve been working to enrich the biodiversity of the Arctic – since 1992?! WE DIDN’T.

With Greenpeace working to discuss making the Arctic a sanctuary AND the WWF’s on-going work of preserving the area – we are even more excited to be a part of this movement!!

Walruses are ‘hauling out’ and need our help! #SaveTheArctic

There isn’t anything that screams “we need to reevaluate our affect on climate change” much like 35,000 walruses on the coast of an Alaskan beach in protest of what we’ve done to their home.

michele brenna

Have you ever wondered what, oh, say, 35,000 walruses converging on the coast of an Alaskan beach might look like and wished you could have a visual? You have? Well, then you are in luck! Today, the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) discovered that in just a few short days (4, to be exact), the number of walruses “hauling out” of the ocean and onto the shore has increased from 1,500 to over 35,000.

The reason this is bad news is much better explained in the articles linked below. Please read them. Please help the walruses, the other sea life, and the Arctic.

Read more here: “35,000 walruses ‘haul out’ on Alaska beach” by Brad Lendon, CNN

It sounds very melodramatic to say this, but we are killing ourselves. We are killing our animals, birds, marine life, and the very earth we live on. The ONLY place…
